Abstract

On the basis of analyzing of the power characteristics site test specifications of tidal energy converter published by the International Electrotechnical Commission and European Marine Energy Center, combing with the research and development status of tidal energy converter in China, the calculation method of energy capture cross-section area of horizontal axis tidal energy converter is proposed. Not only the conversion efficiency and annual energy production calculation method of horizontal axis tidal energy converters are optimized, but also applied into the power characteristics site testing and analyzing work. The results show that the method proposed in this paper has improved the calculation accuracy of the energy capture area than before.
