Abstract

In this paper, the wind characteristics of three types of typical sites on the island were measured by the dual UAVs wind measurement system, and compared with the wind load codes of several countries as well. The results show that the wind profiles measured including offshore coast, low-rise greenhouse base and zones of multi-high-rise buildings are relatively identical with the profiles of Class A in Chinese standard, Class Ⅲ in Japanese standard, and Class B in American standard. The turbulence intensity of offshore coast is lower than the standards of various countries, while the measured values in low-rise greenhouses and zones of multi-high-rise buildings are relatively identical with Class Ⅲ and Ⅳ sites in Japanese standard. The gust wind factor increases with the increase of roughness and turbulence intensity, and the correlation of offshore coast and zones of multi-high-rise buildings between the gust wind factor and turbulence intensity is close to the models suggested by Ishizaki and Cao respectively. The measured integral scale increases with height and decreases with roughness. The integral scale formula for typical landforms of tropical islands is proposed. The vertical and horizontal correlation of wind speed in the same landform decreases with the increase of altitude difference and horizontal distance, and the vertical correlation of wind speed with the same altitude difference decreases with the increase of roughness. The von Karman spectrum can describe the energy distribution characteristics of fluctuating wind in tropical islands well in the frequency domain.
