Abstract

This paper proposes a low-stress energy feedforward soft-switching Buck converter from the perspective of the power transmission path. The resonant energy is directly transferred to the load side through a high-frequency transformer, rather than being returned to the power source or indirectly delivered to the load, thereby reducing conduction losses caused by resonant energy circulation. The auxiliary soft-switching network consists of one switching device, two diodes, and a high-frequency transformer. All switching devices and diodes, including those in the auxiliary network, achieve soft-switching operation without increasing the voltage or current stress on the original power circuit components. First, the soft-switching operating principles of the proposed scheme are analyzed in detail. Then, theoretical analysis and simulation verification of key parameters are conducted. Finally, a 200 kHz, 200 W experimental prototype is constructed. Test results demonstrate that all switching devices achieve soft-switching operation within a load range of 10% to full load. Compared with a conventional hard-switching Buck converter, the proposed soft-switching Buck exhibits higher efficiency across the entire load range, particularly under light-load conditions. The full-load efficiency improves from 93.68% to 96.53%.
